This hotel is tucked away just off Gran Via and the location couldn't be more perfect. On arrival, you go into a small hallway with lifts and you have to go to the first floor for reception but don't let first impressions put you off, the hotel is actually brilliant.
Entrance is discrete off the side street although the welcome desk is a lift trip to the First Floor. Staff are ok...did help with our questions albeit with some arrogance at times. Room had just be renovated (with a lingering smell of paint!) and was furnished to a high standard with contemporary decor.
I have traveled to Madrid many times after studying abroad there and had never had a good hotel experience until the Tryp Cibeles. The hotel's first impressions leave little to be desired, the reception is up one floor from the main entrance, and both the ground and 1st floors were under construction.
